Booking Policy- Train Spread

Please read the following policies carefully. Placing a booking order on Train Spread implies that our policies have been read and accepted.

China Train Tickets Booking Policy

Reservation

Pre-sale time: According to the ministry of China Railways’ policy, the availability of tickets for selling will be advised 15 days before the travel date. (The selling period for train tickets often changes. The China Railways has total control of it. China Highlights will update the days in real time).

What you need to make the booking: Passengers’ names and passport numbers (or travel permit numbers for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan passengers) are needed when booking tickets online. Please double check the information you fill in and make sure the names and passport numbers are exactly the same as they appear on your passports.

You will be refused permission to board the train if what’s written on the tickets does not match your passports. Train Spread shoulders no responsibility for any rejection for ticket issuing, collection or boarding that are caused by incorrectly-provided passenger information.

Submit the booking order and make the payment online.Our travel advisor will respond to you within 12 working hours. No contract between Train Spread and the purchaser shall come into existence until Train Spread issues a formal confirmation by email.

Ticket Price

The total ticket price includes the net ticket price, the service fee, and the credit card transaction fee. Our sleeper train ticket price is quoted based on the lower berth, but tickets are issued stochastically in China. Due to the very slight price differences among upper, middle and lower berths, we will take the benefits no matter which berth we issue finally. Our quotation is based on the updated exchange rate between US Dollar and CN Yuan.

Child Fares

Children up to 1.2 m (3.9 feet) in height can travel for free, but without their own seat or berth. A child ticket is needed if a seat or berth is required.
One adult can bring only one child (under 1.2 m) for free. If there is only one adult and more than one child, the other children need to buy children’s tickets.
Children 12 years of age and under, up to 1.5 m (4.9 feet) in height are eligible for children’s tickets. The children’s ticket price is half that of an adult ticket, except for sleeper tickets, which are 75% of the adult ticket price.
Children more than 12 years old or more than 1.5 m (4.9 feet) tall need to buy adult tickets at the full fare.

Ticket Types

E-ticket: All domestic trains and some international trains provide an e-ticket service. When an e-ticket is issued, a seat is reserved on the train and a voucher will be sent to you via email. You can check in with your passports at the check point to board the train, with no need to collect a paper ticket.

Paper ticket: International trains departing from China require paper tickets. Paper tickets will be delivered to your hotel or address in China after the tickets are issued.

Luggage Allowance

A passenger can take carry-on luggage that is less than 20 kg for free. The sum of the dimensions (length, width, height) of each bag cannot exceed 160 cm. Children with a half-price ticket (1.2 m-1.5 m) or no ticket (under 1.2 m) can take carry-on luggage that is less than 10 kg for free.

Change and Cancelation

If your travel plans change, please contact us to change or cancel your train tickets. To avoid any misunderstanding or mistakes, we strongly suggest you send your request for a change or cancelation via email.

a. Change or cancellation request before payment, no change or cancellation fee.

b. Change or cancellation request before the issue of the tickets, no change or cancellation fee.

c. Change or cancellation request after the issue of the tickets, change or cancellation fee fluctuates on the basis of the time of the request made:

Change or cancel tickets 8 days before the travel date: no change or cancellation fee;
Change or cancel tickets during 48 hours to 7 days before the travel date: 5% of the ticket price will be charged as change/cancellation fee;
Change or cancel tickets during 24 hours to 48 hours before the travel date: 10% of the ticket price will be charged as change/cancellation fee;
Change or cancel tickets within 24 hours before the departure time: 20% of the ticket price will be charged as change/cancellation fee;
After the train departs, tickets cannot be refunded. You can change your ticket at the railway station to any train that departs on the same day no later than 11:59pm.

Please note: all the changes and cancelations of international tickets need to be made off-line. A change or cancelation fee will be charged according to the date of the change or cancelation, the seat classes, and the train types.

Russian Train Tickets Booking Policy

Reservation

Pre-sale time: Tickets for most domestic trains can be booked 45 days before departure. Tickets on some of the domestic trains and international trains departing from Russia can be booked 60 days in advance.

What you need to make the booking: Passengers’ names and passport numbers are needed when booking tickets online. Please double check the information you fill in and make sure the names and passport numbers are exactly the same as they appear on your passports.

You will be refused permission to board the train if what’s written on the tickets does not match your passports.

Ticket Price

The total ticket price includes the net ticket price, the service fee, and the credit card transaction fee. Russian train ticket prices vary based on travel time and the time you make the booking. Train tickets go up in price during holidays. The closer you book to the departure day, the higher the price is. The price is cheapest when tickets have just gone on sale.

Child Fares

Children younger than 10 years old cannot travel by train alone and must be accompanied by an adult.
Children younger than 5 years old who don’t occupy a seat/berth can travel for free.
Child fares apply for children from 5 to 12 years old.
Children over 12 years old are charged the same price as adults.

Ticket Types

E-ticket: All domestic trains and some international trains provide an e-ticket service. When an e-ticket is issued, a seat is reserved on the train and a voucher will be sent to you via email. You can print out the voucher, or just show the email, along with your passport to board the train. There is no need to collect a paper ticket.

Paper ticket: Some international trains departing from Russia require paper tickets. Confirmation will be sent to your email address after the tickets have been issued. You can exchange your confirmation for paper tickets at a ticket machine in the train station free of charge.

Luggage Allowance

A passenger can take carry-on luggage that is less than 36 kg for free. The sum of the dimensions (length, width, height) of each bag cannot exceed 180 cm.

Change and Cancelation

If your travel plans change, please contact us to change or cancel your train tickets. To avoid any misunderstanding or mistakes, we strongly suggest you send your request for a change or cancelation via email. A change or cancelation fee will be charged by Russian Railways according to the date of the change or cancelation, the seat classes, and the train types.

E-tickets for domestic Russian trains can be changed or canceled online after we receive your request.

For international trains that require paper tickets, a change or cancelation can be done online if you haven’t collected your paper tickets. The money will be refunded to the credit card that was used to make the payment.

If you have already collected your paper tickets for an international train, we will be unable to process the change or cancelation online. Please change or cancel your tickets at a local railway station.

A change or cancelation should be made at least 1 hour before the departure time at the departure station that is printed on the ticket or at least 6 hours before departure at other railway stations.

Trans-Siberian Train Tickets Booking Policy

Reservation

Pre-sale time: Tickets are available for sale 30 days prior to departure.

What you need to make a booking: Passengers’ passport copies are required when booking Trans-Siberian tickets online. Please double check and make sure the information you fill in is correct.

Submit the booking order and make the payment online. Our travel advisor will respond to you within 12 working hours. No contract between Train Spread and the purchaser shall come into existence until China Highlights issues a formal confirmation by email.

Ticket Price

The total ticket price includes the net ticket price, the service fee, the credit card transaction fee, and the delivery fee (depending on your requirements).

Child Fares

Children younger than 11 years old cannot travel by train alone and must be accompanied by an adult.
Children younger than 4 years old who don’t occupy a seat/berth can travel for free
Child fares apply for children from 4 to 11 years old.
Children over 11 years old are charged the same price as adults.

Change and Cancelation

All the changes and cancelations of Trans-Siberian tickets need to be made off-line. A change or cancelation fee will be charged according to the date of the change or cancelation, the seat classes, and the train types.

Indian Train Tickets Booking Policy

Reservation

Pre-sale time: Tickets for most Indian trains can be booked 120 days before departure. Tickets for some suburban trains can be booked less than 120 days in advance.

What you need to make the booking: Passengers’ names and passport numbers are needed when booking tickets online. Please double check the information you fill in to make sure it is correct.

Submit the booking order and make the payment online. Our travel advisor will respond to you within 12 working hours. No contract between Train Spread and the purchaser shall come into existence until China Highlights issues a formal confirmation by email.

Ticket Types

All Indian trains provide an e-ticket service. An e-ticket will be sent to your email address after you have made a successful purchase. Print it out or just display the e-ticket on your cell phone screen for boarding. There are three types of train tickets: Available, RAC, and Waitlist.

Available: This means there are plenty of seats or berths available to be confirmed.

RAC: This is the abbreviation for Reservation Against Cancelation. This type of ticket is released when all the Available tickets are reserved. If you get an RAC ticket, you will travel on the train you have selected but it does not guarantee a berth. The berth or seat will be allocated to you randomly.

Waitlist: When the Available and RAC tickets are fully booked, Indian Railways will release Waitlist tickets. You will get an RAC or even a confirmed Available ticket when other travelers cancel theirs.

You need to check the status every now and then. If your Waitlist ticket is not eventually transferred to an Available or RAC one, the ticket fare will be refunded to you.

Ticket Price

Child Fares

Child fares apply for children aged from 5 to 12 years old.
One child under 5 years old, who doesn’t take up a berth or seat, can travel per adult for free.
Children over 12 years old will be charged the same price as adults.

Free Luggage Allowance

AC first class (1A): 70 kg
AC two-tier class (2A) and first class (FC): 50 kg
AC three-tier class (3A) and AC chair (CC): 40 kg
Sleeper class (SL): 40 kg
Second class (2S): 35 kg

Children between 5 and 12 years old are allowed half of the free allowance.

Change and Cancelation

Vietnam Train Tickets Booking Policy

Reservation

Pre-sale time: Reservations for Vietnam trains become available 90 days before departure.

What you need to make the booking: Passengers’ names and passport numbers are needed when booking tickets online. Please double check the information you fill in to make sure it is correct.

Submit the booking order and make the payment online. Our travel advisor will respond to you within 12 working hours. No contract between Train Spread and the purchaser shall come into existence until China Highlights issues a formal confirmation by email.

Ticket Types

All Vietnam trains have an e-ticket service. E-tickets will be sent to you via email once your booking is confirmed. You can print this email out for boarding.

If you lose this copy of your email, you can collect a new paper ticket at the ticketing machine in a local train station.

Ticket Price

The total ticket price includes the net ticket price, the service fee, and the credit card transaction fee.

Child Fares

Child fares apply for children aged from 6 to 9 years old.
One child under 6 years old, who doesn’t take up a berth or seat, can travel per adult for free.
Children over 9 years old will be charged the same price as adults.

Change and Cancelation

Thailand Train Tickets Booking Policy

Reservation

Pre-sale time: Reservations for Thailand trains become available 60 days before departure.

What you need to make the booking: Passengers’ names and passport numbers are needed when booking tickets online. Please double check the information you fill in to make sure it is correct.

Submit the booking order and make the payment online. Our travel advisor will respond to you within 12 working hours. No contract between Train Spread and the purchaser shall come into existence until China Highlights issues a formal confirmation by email.

Ticket Types

After making the booking successfully, you will receive PDFs of e-tickets via email. Just print the PDFs out for boarding.

Ticket Price

Child Fares

Child fares apply for children aged from 3 to 11 years old and under 150 cm.
One child under 3 years old and under 100 cm, who doesn’t take up a berth or seat, can travel per adult for free.
Children over 11 years old will be charged the same price as adults.

Change and Cancelation

A change or cancelation fee will be charged according to the date of the change or cancelation, the seat classes, and the train types.

In order to provide a better service, we collect personal information with your consent, including names, ID document numbers, telephone numbers, email addresses, address in China, as well as other travel information. We will not disclose such personal information to any third party. You have the right to require us to delete your personal information at any time.
